SATURATE

233 West Broadway
Louisville, KY 40202

An art event that recognized the works of one hundred and sixty (160) artists from around the U.S. who created works in sculpture, installation, film, video, music, sound, performance, painting, photography, clay, glass, fiber, and mixed media. All artists' considered the element of water as their initial inspiration in order to create new art for "Saturate." The Ground Floor Gallery converted the historic St. Francis Building in downtown Louisville into exhibition spaces, a pool area for lounging & discussions, screening rooms for film & video, areas for on-site installations, and stages for performances, which ranged from new work by contemporary composers - performed live by piano and string quintets - to a series of choreographed, water-ballet-inspired dances performed by a bevy of sexy women in 1950's bathing suits in the old pool room of the St. Francis Building. "Saturate" saw one thousand people pay a cover charge for the event in the first few hours of opening its doors in August of 2006.
